Bird Walks

Finally made it on a couple of bird walks with my friend Bonnie. I met Bonnie last March at Croton Point Park while Frank and I were walking Tucker and Lola. I saw this woman looking through a huge lens and also there was scope on a tripod. Frank told me to go talk to her and he continued with the dogs. I started to speak to her and admired her Swarvoski scope and 600mm Nikon Lens. We hit it off right away. I would join her on Sunday’s at Croton Nature Center where she counts the birds and logs them in. We try to go out at least 1 day on the weekend to take pictures and have some laughs. Bonnie knows all the good places to visit. Thanks Bonnie for a great summer adventure. Looking forward to the rest of the fall and winter bird walks.

Our first walk was August 30 at Central Park. We joined a group of fellow birders at the 79th Street entrance. We lucked out and parked across the street in front of a hot dog vendor who watched the car. It was an absolute gorgeous day and the park was filled with people enjoying the last bit of summer warmth. We ended the afternoon buying a couple of hot dogs from our friendly vendor. The warblers and sparrows on this page are from Central Park.

Frank and I our members of  the  NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx and we only went once this spring. What a shame because we missed the summer gardens. We won’t do that next year. We decided to go last Saturday 10/13/12 and picked up Bonnie for a bird walk and the Monet exhibit at the Conservatory. A sunny and beautiful fall day at the Garden. You’ll see a few cedar waxing and palm warblers on this page from the BG. I’ll have a separate flower page to post soon so stay tune. Enjoy!!!

We had a good time and I was able to take a picture of a couple of birds that I did not have in my repertoire. The Monet exhibit was also pretty and it was a perfect fall day.
